About Kids Maps

It started as a concept for my 3 year old daughter...

This project is a labor of love for me. I originally developed the game for my 3 year old daughter Susie after I read a study in a parenting magazine about the poor geography skills typical of today's children.

Recently, as I was showing Susie where her grandparents live on a U.S. map, I remembered the study I had read. I had a moment of inspiration. I thought it would be great for Susie to have a game which would teach her geography in the same fun way other iPad games teach her the alphabet & numbers - through interactive play.

Because I own a small programming shop (Media Mechanic) in Portland Oregon, I decided I would use my skills to create my own app for Susie.

Susie has been my lil’ tester while my team & I continue to refine the app to be fun, easy-to-use and educational. After the initial versions turned out so well, I decided to release the game as a product for all kids to enjoy.

The response from parents and teachers has been inspirational and heart warming. I am now releasing a newly improved version of my original U.S. game to include features parents requested. I am also releasing four (4) new games: Asia, Europe, South & Central America and U.S. Regions for iPhone. In addition, I have created a series of activity worksheets that you can download for FREE in the EDUCATORS section of this website to enhance the learning process beyond the boundries of the iPad.

I sincerely hope your kids enjoy this game as much as my daughter does.

If you have feedback or any technical issues, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to your input!

Thanks again for contributing to my daughter’s college fund!
